About Sabarimala Yatra

Sabarimala Yatra: A Sacred Journey to Lord Ayyappa’s Abode

Located deep in the Western Ghats of Pathanamthitta district, Sabarimala Temple in Kerala is one of the most revered and frequently visited Hindu pilgrimage sites in the world. Dedicated to Lord Ayyappa, the temple draws millions of devotees annually, especially during the auspicious Mandala Kalam and Makaravilakku seasons.

    • The Sabarimala Yatra is not merely a physical journey, but one of self-discipline, celibacy, and devotion, carried out through a rigorous 41-day vratham (spiritual observance). Pilgrims undertake the arduous trek through sacred hills to reach the Sannidhanam, where they chant the sacred mantra, “Swamiye Saranam Ayyappa”, before offering prayers at the temple.
    • The yatra is a transformative pilgrimage that challenges the devotee's inner strength and discipline while cultivating a sense of penance and spiritual unity. Along the way, visitors can explore nearby sacred landmarks such as Erumeli, Pampa River, and Guruvayur, each adding a layer of spiritual significance to the journey.
    • The Sabarimala pilgrimage offers not only a deep sense of inner peace and spiritual renewal but also fosters a sense of unity among devotees from all walks of life, irrespective of caste, creed, or religion.
